Whatever You Say

The hands of time keep pushing us forward
But in reality I'm stuck in the past.
You will tell me my vision is blurring the truth
Your undying love you'll hold fast.

What you say can never be what you really mean;
The color of love is not green.
So I stand here before you weak at the knees
And I tell you what it is you can't see.

REFRAIN
Dreams that will never become memories,
Or things that stay broken too long.
Hypocrisy bulging from your back pocket,
All the rights that keep staying as wrongs.

Below average should be good enough,
All that you want you think I do, too.
What I don't have I can't use for leverage,
And I crumble, feeling just like a fool.

The clock still passes our time.
Day in and day out, we survive.
Soon another season will come to an end,
And we will step into another, again with no end.

What I say can never be what you want it to mean;
The color blue is easy to see.
You'll stand here before me while I'm down on my knees
And you'll tell me how you think it should be.

REFRAIN
Dreams that will never become memories,
Or things that stay broken too long.
Hypocrisy bulging from your back pocket,
All the rights that keep staying as wrongs.

Below average should be good enough,
All that you want you think I do, too.
What I don't have I can't use for leverage,
And I crumble, feeling just like a fool.

It will always be your vision, your words, your way.
Like a fool, I'll let time keep pushing us forward,
Into another this is a good enough day.

I'll Be Fine

I can't seem to find the words
That cloud my mind in the night
Stealing sweet dreams as they do
And leaving me lost in this plight
It's like trying to carry cold water
That slips through my hands with the time
That before me seems endless and vast
Too much, not enough, and sublime

So I keep moving on
Put one foot in front of the other
Knowing if only you'd let me go
That tomorrow I'd be just fine

Funny how things seem okay
When you get what you want sometimes
We pretend this is how it's supposed to be
And keep walking that line that's so fine
And I know we want different things
But you can't give me what I need
What keeps you awake at night
Goes unspoken and dies in my heed

So I keep moving on
Put one foot in front of the other
Knowing if only you'd let me go
That tomorrow I'd be just fine

So I keep moving on, moving on
And someday tomorrow I'll be just fine

Your Side of The Fence

I woke up this morning
To the sound of falling rain
And you weren't there beside me
To take away this hurt and pain

Oh I can't piece together
The events of yesterday
You walked away from us
And said you couldn't stay

You said it's all too much
The kids, your job, our life
You stood there on our doorstep
Said you didn't want me to be your wife

But I heard everything you didn't say
In every other sentence
The tears you didn't cry can't free you
From our past along your way
You think it won't ever rain there
The place you claim you need to go
You're gonna hear those words over and over
Standing on your side of the fence

Remember how hot the sun can burn
When you stay out way too long
And you might regret where you wind up
Because home is where you always belonged

Now I must wake the children
Prepare us for this day
How to answer all their questions
Of why you went away

But the only thing you've forgotten
That stands the test of time
You won't last very long
Without everything you've left behind

And I heard everything you didn't say
In every other sentence
The tears you didn't cry can't free you
From our past along your way
You think it won't ever rain there
The place you claim you need to go
You're gonna hear those words over and over
Standing on your side of the fence
