Plagiarism

How the story started, I had forgotten.

So I went back to the beginning of the book.
And then surprised, I read the same passages often.

I hadn't seen the real story between the lines
Hidden to most who can so easily overlook it.
A needle in a haystack when exposed will shine.

To saturate the fabric is to stain the cotton;
You will steal his agenda like a common crook,
Take your self gratifying hit before you reach rock bottom.

You have convinced yourself he's yours in your mind.
A relationship so distorted and blatantly unfit,
For the good of what's moral you refuse to leave it behind.

Chasing something so far where you don't belong,
Not seeing the direction where you know you should look,
And taking down casualties as you continue to forge on.

You had no right to claim this story to write all along,
A foundation so fragile under which planted feet has been shook,
But you'll pen your false name even though it's all wrong,
This story that isn't yours to own beyond this crossed line.

Behind The Holy Door

It's a scene that depicts not innocence.
It's what really goes on behind the holy door.
It's everything and nothing at all.
It's yesterday wronged forevermore.

It's the secret you carry in your pocket,
A burden of a sin deflected to be theirs and mine.
It's a topic left abandoned and untouched.
It's the drawing of the moral line.

It's the saving of a broken soul,
That's the manipulation of truth to your lies.
It's the business that matters to no one,
Despite all of the wheres and whys.

The story at times has been changed.
Even the timeline has been modified.
Vows that teeter on an unbalanced foundation
Continue to weaken you as the glorified.

It's corruption we sleep through each night.
It's a topic we fight to keep out of the news.
Yet to share in confession and reconciliation,
Will release us from the lies turned to truth.

It's a scene that will depict hurting wounds.
It's what will no longer go on behind the holy door.
It's everyone and everything at all.
It's tomorrow made right forevermore.

Language Barriers

You think you have it figured out,
Holding your heart in your hands,
Tossing misinterpreted words about.

You hide behind your self imposed clout,
Choosing to deny where you will stand,
And remain anonymous amid the shouts

Of your passive aggressive doubt,
Among others who are in your camp,
Who know not what your real fight is about.

Your reasons you will to them not allow,
Because it is your weapon and only clamp
To be able to justify why and how

You can cut one down and cause a fallout,
Because they refuse to want to understand
Your manipulation of the truth then or now.

You think you have it figured out,
Ready to snap like a rubber band,
But thinking you've hidden your self doubt
Behind transparent words choking in your mouth

Words of Flight

Isn't it funny how the truth comes to light
Through pent up anger that is put on paper
Words expressed to spark flames of a fight

You will pack so much emotion in one phrase to be right
Misdirected by your misguided anger
And wrong conclusions you keep in your sight

Every difference and contradiction that they might
Replace what is goodness and true and sincere
Hiding behind the curtain that has in turn shed new light

Refusing to believe that the words would take flight
Despite closing the door thinking it would be better
While the darkness still blinds you to see what is right

Still holding fast to the lies you grasp day and night
Crushing your spirit one more time and more vaster
But still standing tall on the ledge of your height

That paper, it's burning my heart not from fright
But of the sadness in you now and I hope not forever
That will keep you standing alone in your plight
Until it is thrown away like this friendship overnight

Clouded Judgment

Standing there in the dark
One foot stepped over the line
You will boldly still embark
So fragile is your hurt heart
It's a risk you take each time
And it will set you from others apart
Unaware of the picture's mark
And that it all is really not fine
Too late to stop what you start
Keeping score on your personal chart
Hoping he'll see you shine
Unaware of the mounting charge
Causing others to question this entourage
That it is "off" and wrong of its kind
Not invisible even near or afar
Watching you there as you are
I fear for what they might find
You see, they are not at all blind

Doubt

The doubt that you carry
Found not near me
Has only created fragments
Of who we are to be
You will question my actions
In the midst of a great loss
So I question your insecurity
Even though I see its cause
You let your heart bleed
Keep putting Band-Aids on your soul
Thinking when I stand beside you
Is when you can be whole
Fragments that weigh heavy
Taking space reserved for love
Scattered all around us
As they fall from up above
This doubt is everywhere
Now permeating you and me
The box of Band-Aids is empty
And together we are not free
